I remember when I had my sights set on this guy, in my first year and hesitant to spend the money on it. I run with two battery platforms, higher end Bosch for the workhorse tools and Craftsman for items I don’t use as often and are more affordable. Having several cordless brands means having to charge several different kinds of batteries on their individual stations. So it’s best to keep the variety to a minimum. Which in my case is two.
ANYway, for a Craftsman tool this was a little pricier. But even though I don’t use it every day it was well worth it. It shoots tiny 23 gauge pin nails that, as the term suggests, look like pins. These are great for narrow pieces of trim or other material that would blow apart if I tried to use a bigger, 18 gauge nail. All this is RIVETING (different type of fastener, not a pun) stuff, I know. But I’ve been in the position before where I’ve had to repair trim I just installed because I chanced using a beefier nail. Not fun! Plus the Craftsman features an articulated “nose” that I can point right into the small spot I need to send a nail.
If you’re going to be taking on some kind of delicate trim job I highly recommend one of these. Or…. you can always hire me to do it 😎
